Microfluidic components
One major problem today is that there are not many MEMS valves available. This means that you as a user are fully dependent on bulky solenoid valves.
However, this is not an option if you are aiming at a slim system that needs several valves. As a result your product gets bulky with unnecessary dead volume. But that’s not all.
Solenoids can consume a lot of energy as well, and this is not optimal, especially not for a portable product. By using MultusMEMS’ polymeric valve you solve this and will,
for example, get a thin valve that can be integrated in your products and increase their functionality.
RF MEMS
MultusMEMS has recently signed a contract with the Swedish Space Agency Board to develop a RF MEMS Switch for satellites.
MEMS components are interesting in RF systems due to their good properties. However, one drawback has been the slow speed of MEMS components.
But, instead of speed, MultusMEMS is focusing on the ability to handle high RF power in systems that need to be configured on occasion
with large amounts of time between the events. Hence, speed is not critical in such applications and the high-power ability opens up for new ways to design RF equipment. The picture on the right shows a conceptual RF MEMS device with standard BNC connections.
